Community Interest Companies (CICS) are limited companies, with special additional features, created for the use of people who want to conduct a business or other activity for community benefit, and not purely for private advantage. The CIC has the flexibility of the familiar company form, and access to a range of financing options, so may be appropriate for those working for a social purpose.
Although, CICs cannot have charitable status, a charity can set up a CIC subsidiary company. This means they do not get the tax benefits of a charity, but in return they do not have the strict reporting requirements of a charity.
As with all other incorporated charities and companies, the directors of CICs are required to deliver copies of their accounts for each financial year (including a director’s report) to the Registrar of Companies who will place them on the public file. We are able to offer a low cost high quality service to provide you with a set of formal bound accounts, which many CICs find useful for funding applications.
